Hotel Del Coronado Engagement Session with Jenna + Taylor
Every now and then, I get a call from a bride-to-be planning her wedding, and we just click. That was Jenna (yes we share a name!). She started telling me about the plans she and Taylor have for their wedding on the beach with tiki torches, street tacos, market lights, and hidden Mickeys. They both worked for Disney and the community was a big part of their lives, so hidden Mickeys are a must. (I was just never good at finding them in Disneyland, so I may need some help making sure I capture them all in photos when the big day comes! They say they’ll give me a worksheet…)
Jenna and Taylor love to travel. In fact, they met on vacation (through friends), and then had their first date on another vacation (again with friends). Jenna got on the plane home to Seattle (yes, she is a coffee lover like me!) and she just felt like something was telling her it shouldn’t end. He came from Vegas to visit her two weeks later, and that was it. They made trips back and forth until she finally packed her bags and left the beautiful state of Washington for the desert, because despite her love for good coffee, she loved him even more!
Eventually, the traveling pair ended up in our beautiful California (yay!) and their very first weekend getaway was Hotel Del Coronado. They spent four hours sitting on this patio with drinks in hand just enjoying the amazing view and good conversation. It only felt right to incorporate the famous hotel into part of their engagement session, and we landed right back on the patio with drinks, because why not?! Plus, every groom deserves a good cocktail break when he is agreeing to take pretty photos with his fiancé. Am I right?
After cocktails and wine, we walked down to the sand for sunset. I started with photos of Jenna’s rose gold engagement ring, and I had the biggest heart eyes! I mean look at this beauty!!
Traveling has always been a huge part of Jenna and Taylor’s relationship, yet distance has never pulled them apart. Even their families are spread across the country, and though their wedding will be in the state they currently live in, it’s a destination for everyone else. I love that they incorporated this map into their session, and I hope it’s hanging on their wall somewhere now!
We had a blast together, and of course, ended with a post-engagement-session selfie! I can’t wait for September when we have the best beach wedding ever! We will surely be sneaking out of the reception for romantic bride and groom photos under the market lights, and I will most definitely be enjoying their taco-truck dinner amidst all of the candids I’m going to snap for them! Be sure to look out for the whole shebang on the blog this fall!
