An Intimate and Cozy Backyard Wedding – Brittany + Nate
Have you met my cousin? You may have seen their epic Big Bear engagement session with the snow falling from heaven. If not, you really need to go see how pretty it was, and read Brittany and Nate’s amazing story.
Now that you’re all caught up, I’m so excited to share their wedding day with you. These two decided to get married in the home of Brittany’s parents. They wanted a small and authentic celebration, and they desired simplicity and an intimate experience with those closest to them. What better way to carry that out, than to gut out the home of Brittany’s parents’ and make it pretty for the exchanging of vows? I even got to spend all day Thursday before the wedding helping them and their family members to get the house ready! It was quite the adventure, but we were all really excited about how it turned out!
When I arrived for the wedding on Friday morning, it was sprinkling! The soft light seeping through the clouds made for some pretty detail shots as Brittany got ready upstairs. Her custom high-low wedding dress by Vanessa Alfaro hung beautifully on the red door, the perfect color to tie in with their winter-wonderland-inspired wedding theme. Erin Heck did her hair and Brittany did her own makeup. They’re both cosmetologists and close friends, and Erin was also the honorary MOH! How fun to have your own best friend styling your hair for your wedding?
When Brittany was done with hair and makeup, she got dressed for the ceremony. She posed like royalty, and I’m in love with her bridal portraits!
Nate’s mom is a seamstress and actually graduated from FIDM before he was born. She handmade Brittany’s garters for her. How sweet!
Nate’s mom Cindi (my aunt!) had the honors of pinning his boutonnière, and then the ceremony started!
Justin (my husband) learned a whole song just for Brittany to jet down the aisle so quickly, that he only got in about 10 seconds of play time. Brittany said sorry! She was just too excited!
They tied the three strand chord during their ceremony and plan to hang it in a shadow box in their new home as a representation of their bond with one another and with Christ. It was my first time seeing this!
And they’re married!
After everyone hugged and congratulated the couple, we left for some photos at the trail that Nate and Brittany walk with their dogs everyday. This is the trail right by their new home they’ll live in together.
We had the best sunset glow!!
This one below is one of my favorites!
You can see Nate’s pocket watch in the photo below. Nate was a groomsmen for Justin in my wedding, and we gave him this pocket watch with his name engraved on the front. It was so cool to see him wearing it to his own wedding!
How cute is Brittany’s high-low dress?!
Brittany’s sister couldn’t make it to the wedding for health reasons, and so she wore her sister’s corsage on her ankle. How sweet is that?
Brittany’s mom made the wedding cake. I loved all of the pine and pinecones she embellished it with!
They’re both music lovers and Nate used to play in a band, so they made “back-stage passes” as wedding favors that said “backyard access…” so creative!
We got back from photos and the reception began! How cute was their first dance? And can you believe this was their living room just a couple days prior? They made it so pretty with draped fabric and twinkle lights!
Cheers to the newlyweds! Thank you guys for having me capture your special day. It meant so much to me that Justin and I both got to be a little part of it!
