Cypress Tree Inspired Engagement Session – Alana + David
Oh THIS engagement session!! Alana called me up when she booked her wedding venue at Callaway Vineyard & Winery and said she had seen a recent wedding I shot there. I didn’t realize just how cool Alana and David were until we sat down for lunch at the vineyard restaurant and got to know each other. They are so down to earth and such easy going people who you just enjoy being around. I am so excited that they’ve chosen to have me capture their wedding day and I know it’s going to be one of those weddings that are just amazing because of everyone who is there with them!
When Alana and I first started a visual board to communicate ideas and themes for their session, we immediately got on the same page! She wanted fancy, elegant and classy to go with the vibe of her wedding. She also knew she wanted the location to blend well with their winery. Callaway has some stunning cypress tress, so we used that as an inspiration. The more we pinned images, the more we fell in love with the idea of shooting with cypress trees. We honestly just wanted to go to France for the shoot (I totally would have!).
While I was out scouting for the perfect place for their session, I drove by Abbott Manor and immediately remembered their stunning entrance with rows of cypress tress and their beautiful gardens. When I approached the owner Albert about the idea, he was so hospitable and welcomed us all in with kindness! Thank you so much Albert!
How cute are they!!! Look at their genuine smiles.
Alana’s ring is a stunner. David, you did well!
Alana wanted to go all out with their session, so we booked a second location and styled a second look for them in this beautiful field behind Callaway Winery who kindly hosted us as well! What I love about this field is that it’s also going to be sentimental for Alana and David, since it was on property where they’ll be saying their vows. With the field being such a long walk from the ceremony site, we knew it wouldn’t be ideal to go out there for photos on the wedding day, so the other great aspect is that they won’t have any repetition between their engagement and wedding photos. It was perfect!
It was David’s idea to pull gray into the shoot with Alana’s black dress. I love the combo and think it’s so classy.
This black and white one is one of mine and Alana’s favorites!!! So moody!!!
Thank you guys for being so awesome and for trusting me to capture this season for you! Can’t wait for July!!!
