David and Kristi – Married at Circle Oak Ranch
Kristi and David were married this April in Fallbrook, CA at the beautiful private wedding estate Circle Oak Ranch. It was such a beautiful day, filled with so much personality and such a warm touch of character. It was intimate and casual, which fit so well with the rustic setting of the venue. David is Irish and he is from Canada, so Kristi added a lot of cute Irish touches to represent their relationship.
This wedding is very near and dear to my heart. Kristi has become a friend throughout her wedding planning process. She started out as a client, and then became a professional associate in the industry. She is not only a bride, but also wedding coordinator. Planning her own wedding has really added to her experience in event planning and given her so much more insight to share with her clients. Currently, she is primarily working with Circle Oak Ranch weddings as well as with clients who are getting married at other venues. We’ve had the opportunity to attend networking events together, such as the grand reopening of the Sherman Library & Gardens that I blogged a few weeks ago here. She is also going to be coordinating MY wedding next January! It was such an honor to share her special day with her, and I’m excited to have her with me on mine as well. Check out her professional event coordinating website here.
One of the very special touches she had at her wedding was displaying her father’s bible bookmarked to their keynote verse for their wedding day.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails…” 1 Cornthians 13:4-8 NIV
If you have followed my blog, Facebook, or Instagram for some period of time you’ve probably seen me post about Carla with Enchanting Blooms. Her floral design is just flawless and beautiful every time. She provided the bouquets and boutonnieres for David and Kristi’s wedding and did an excellent job as always. If you’re a bride, Carla is a MUST for your vendor list. Trust me.
David and Kristi wanted to do a first look for their wedding day. They knew it would give them optimal time with their guests, and more time alone with each other on such a special day. Because of this decision they made, the entire day was so smooth and relaxed. They enjoyed alone time before a crowd of loved ones came to celebrate, had more time for photos, and more time to spend with their friends and family. Not only that, but we were able to capture such beautiful moments of their reactions.
One of my favorite things about their wedding was that they had an untraditional wedding party. Instead of bridesmaids and groomsmen, they had their sons stand on either side of them during the ceremony. Seeing their kids expressions on their face when they exchanged their vows was such a precious moment to experience.
David is from Canada and will be moving to California with Kristi, so it was so cute to see a little directional sign for Edmonton where he is from. They even included one for Maui where Kristi’s son Tyler currently lives.
If you’re having an outdoor wedding and looking for fabulous food, Kristi and David selected Smokey Mountain Barbecue who often works at this venue as well as all over the Temecula Wine Country area. The food was just to die for. I loved their grilled chicken and mashed potatoes, but they had a variety of delicious hot items and everyone just loved it!
Kristi is also a teacher and believes no wedding reception (or class) should be stagnant. She wanted her reception to be all about the guests, and so she put together a little piece of entertainment for them during dinner. Each of their mason jars contained lyrics to different songs, all handpicked by David. The game is that whoever grabbed their song lyrics first and held it up had to sing the lyrics to the person on their right. Then that person who was sung to would turn and sign to the next person on their right. I walked around and photographed while the guests participated, and everyone was having such a good time and laughing with each other. It was a fun little activity that got people involved! I didn’t realize it until later on, but I happened to take a photo of one of my favorite songs: Beautiful Things by Gungor.
David and Kristi’s wedding was so much fun, I didn’t even feel like I was working. I just had such a great time sharing their day with them and capturing as many candid moments as I could for their keepsake. Thank you both for having me on such a sweet and special day!
